    Dancehall is quite vocal on Kanye West’s upcoming album with a collaboration with Assassin and samples from Capleton, Popcaan and Beenie Man. West is due to release his album, Yeezus, today. But when the album leaked late last week, one of the most noticeable things on the 10-track album was the strong presence of dancehall.     Montego Bay, Jamaica; Assassin aka Agent Sasco, a recurring act on Dancehall night will be making his fifth performance and is set to ‘run the place’ as the newest addition to the 21st staging of the ‘Greatest Reggae Show on Earth’ on Thursday, July 25. In a recent statement, Assassin sought to reassure the Sumfest audiences of his plans to go all out to name this the 21st staging of Reggae Sumfest performance special. “I always give 100 percent on any stage and Sumfest is certainly no different. Being one of the premiere events, I always try to represent myself, my craft and my industry well,” says Agent Sasco.

    On Saturday, July 28, deejay Bounty Killer, the man currently leading the Guinness Dancehall Icons Competition in THE STAR, will be performing at a free concert in downtown Kingston. The 'Poor People Governor' will be the headliner at The Gleaner's Icons Concert, which will also feature other musical icons such as reggae veteran Ken Boothe, clash king Ninja Man, the energetic Elephant Man, and gospel extraordinaire Carlene Davis. The concert, being organised by The Gleaner and sponsored by Lime and CB Chicken, will be the final event for the downtown Kingston's Sizzling Summer Savings three-day shopping and entertainment event.
